Get-Together
June 11, 2024.  There was a small turnout for this month's Get-Together.  This was our second Get-Together since our recent 60th Reunion.  The next Get-Together will be July 9th.
 
New Website Section
March 12, 2024.  A new section has been added to the website:  "Missing Knights."  Clicking on that link will take you to a list of our classmates with whom we have not been able to make contact.

January 21, 2023.  A new section has been added to the website:  "Knights Out and About."  Clicking on that link will take you to pictures and descriptions of our classmates out and doing things.
 
NWC Hall of Fame
September 15, 2022.  It has been announced that our 1964 classmate, Brooke Cotter (Wells), is one of the five inductees for the NWC Hall of Fame this year.  Brooke is a United States Magistrate for the Federal District of Utah and has a long and distinguished legal career leading up to that appointment.  We all congratulate her for her recognition.  The induction banquet and ceremony will take place at the school on Friday, November 11, 2022.  Further details of this event, the other inductees, and Brooke’s accomplishments will be posted on the Hall of Fame webpage in the coming weeks:  www.nwcfriends.org.  Please plan to attend to support and honor Brooke, and to connect with the many other classmates who will be there.  The proceeds from this event go to “Friends of NWC Foundation” for the benefit of the teachers and students at the school.

Carter Blue Clark, PhD., enrolled citizen of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation, internationally recognized advocate and scholar of American Indian law and heritage, passed away December 1, 2023.  Born January 11, 1946, in Dallas, TX, Blue was raised in Oklahoma City.  He attended Kaiser Elementary and Taft Junior High, graduated from Northwest Classen High School, and received a B.A, M.A., and PhD. in History from the University of Oklahoma.

Lawrence Geoffrey Day, 74, of Franklin, TN, passed away December 16, 2020.  Larry was born in Tulsa, OK, February 4, 1946, to Robert A. Day and Dede F. Day.  He was a warm and caring man who loved his family and his faith unconditionally.  Survived by his sister Sharon Parsons; sons Kris A. Day (Melissa) and Jeff R. Day (Rachel): grandchildren Sloan, Sydney, Bryce and Paige. 

 
Obituary - Sharon Kaye Wininger (Barton)
We have recently been informed of the following:
Sharon Kaye Barton, 71, of Duncan passed away Wednesday, July 11, 2018, at her home in Duncan.  Sharon was born in Duncan, Oklahoma, on October 23, 1946, the daughter of Basil Glenn and Betty Lou (Robinson) Wininger.  She graduated from Northwest Classen High School, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, in 1964.  She worked for the Family Dollar Distribution Center as a Dock Supervisor.  She enjoyed bird watching, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents.  Survivors include her brother, Larry Wininger, of Raymore, Missouri.
 
Obituary - Roger Kelly Thurman

October 29, 1946 - February 16, 2016
Roger K. Thurman, 69, of Richmond, passed away Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at Baptist Health – Richmond after a long illness.
  Mr. Thurman retired from the USPS and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and VVA and also served in the American Legion.  He was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Howard Kelly Thurman, former Dean of English at EKU; his mother, Mrs. Mary John Rodgers Thurman, EKU Librarian, and his brother, Richard Thurman.  Mr. Thurman is survived by his niece, Diana Thurman (Kevin Maranowski) of Louisville, CO; his nephew, Alex (Elyssa) Thurman of Brooklyn, NY; great niece, Katie Maranowski; great nephew, Evan Thurman, and his long time companion and best friend, Anita Begley.   At Mr. Thurman’s request, there will be no funeral services.  A private burial will take place at Camp Nelson National Cemetery.

Obituary - Bill James

We have recently been informed of the following: William “Bill” Hugh James was born February 2, 1946, in Oklahoma City the son of Addie Lee and Harry James.  He completed this life on Monday, October 31, 2022, at his home at the age of 76.  Bill was raised in Oklahoma City where he graduated from Northwest Classen High School in 1964 as did his late brother Mickey in 1958, his sister Jobella in 1960, and his twin sister Linda in 1964.  Bill graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1968 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree.  He graduated from the OU School of Law with his Juris Doctorate degree in 1973.  Bill then served our country in the US Navy as a Lt. J.G.  Bill spent his legal career as an Assistant Attorney General, Public Defender, Assistant District Attorney, and in private law practice in Yukon, Oklahoma.  Bill is survived by his three children, son Michael and his son Michael of North Carolina; son, David and his wife Kristi of Oklahoma City; his daughter, Mary James Ketch and her husband David and their three children, Julia, Hunter and Amelia; his sister-in-law, Marcie James; many loving nieces and nephews as well as his loving friend, Lory Lewis.  Bill loved his family and enjoyed the sport of wrestling.
 
Obituary - Sharon Ann Whittaker (Ward) and husband
We have recently been informed of the following:
Wynnewood - Donald "Don" Ray and Sharon Ann Whittaker (Ward) have been reunited in heaven; Don passed away on February 6, 2022 with Sharon joining him on March 19, 2022.  Don was born October 19, 1942 in Cushing, OK, to Ray Harrison and Roberta Inez (Johnston) Ward.  He grew up in Cushing and Ripley, graduating from Ripley High in 1960.  Don would go on to join the Army National Guard in 1961, rising to the rank of Staff Sergeant during his six years of service. Sharon was born March 24, 1946, in Oklahoma City, OK, to Lynn Merl and Elizabeth Iris Whittaker.  A native of Oklahoma City, she graduated from Northwest Classen High School in 1964 before attending Covenant College in Lookout Mountain, GA.  Don and Sharon began their 53 ˝ years of married adventure on July 22, 1968.  The pair settled down in Wynnewood, OK, to raise their four children and loved doting on their eleven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.  Don spent his early working life as part of the design project team for the Oklahoma Highway Department, which included the I-240/I-40 interchange, before dedicating 43 years to the Wynnewood Refinery as a Project Designer.  Prior to retiring in 2005, Sharon worked for the State of Oklahoma at several agencies, including the Board of Public Affairs, the Pauls Valley State School, and the Department of Human Services. 
 
Obituary - Allen Eaker
Obituaries in Oklahoma City, OK | OklahomanWe have recently been informed of the following: Scottsdale, AZ - Robert "Allen" Eaker, 75, of Scottsdale, AZ, passed away peacefully at his residence on January 20, 2022, surrounded by love.  Allen was born on March 4, 1946, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to Masters and Charlotte Eaker.  He is the eldest of two children and graduated from Northwest Classen High School in 1964, where he lettered in both basketball and baseball.  After graduating high school, he was offered a full scholarship to Oklahoma Baptist University (OBU) to play both basketball and baseball.  He was a vital member of the 1966 OBU NAIA National Championship team and the 1965 and 1967 NAIA National runner-up teams.  Allen was inducted into the Oklahoma Baptist University Athletics Hall of Fame in 1980 and celebrated in 2009 with the OBU Outstanding Alumni Achievement Award.  Upon graduation from OBU in 1968 with a bachelor's of arts, he attended Texas Tech University where he graduated with a master's degree in Business Administration. While at Texas Tech, he coached the freshmen basketball team for two years and also met his wife Bobbie. They married in May 1971.  One month after their marriage, he began his career with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in Austin Texas. In 1974, he was promoted to the headquarters in St. Louis, MO.  In 1977, he joined Edward Jones as financial advisor in Altus, OK.  He would go on to become a general partner with Edward Jones and complete a 32-year career in Altus before retiring to Scottsdale, AZ in 2009.  Allen and Bobbie were blessed with two wonderful boys, Robert "Todd" Eaker in 1977 and Jason Allen Eaker in 1980.  Allen was an incredible hands-on father.  He loved coaching his boys in little league basketball and baseball and was devoted to helping his boys succeed in anything they chose to pursue.  The boys will remember their dad as a godly man who loved them unconditionally.  Allen was a devout husband and god-fearing man.  He was a faithful servant of Christ throughout his life.  During his 32-years in Altus, OK, he was an active member of the First Baptist Church, serving as a deacon and a teacher in the youth department.  He also served on several Boards; the Baptist Foundation, Salvation Army, and Parks and Recreation.  Allen is survived by his wife of 50-years, Bobbie; his two sons Todd and Jason, and his wife Meredith; his four grandchildren Zach, Allie, Laine and Isaac; and his brother Tim.  Allen loved nothing more than being there for his family and creating unforgettable moments.
